Mansfield Park-Issue 1

Greetings from Book one, Mansfield Park.

So far this novel is moving slowly and I am having a hard time getting into it. But It's Jane Austen's book so I know it will be good in the end.

I just looked up a summary of this book- "Mansfield Park was written between February, 1811 and the summer of 1813. It was the third novel Jane Austen had published and it first appeared on May 4, 1814. During her lifetime, it was attributed only to "The author of Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice", and the author's identity was unknown beyond her family and friends. It is Jane Austen's most complex novel and deals with many different themes, from the education of children, to the differences between appearances and reality."
Is it bad that my heart just sank. That's right ladies and gentlemen, I honestly had no idea what this book was about prior to just reading the same paragraph that you also just read.
Anyways, I was trying to think of ways I related to this novel and nothing much is coming to mind but perhaps as I read more into it things will become evident.

So Until next time- Fin!

How this Starts

Hey ya all.
As of right now I am looking forward to what this summer holds and what might all be accomplished. I plan on reading all 8 novels written by the fabulous Jane Austen. I have currently ready Pride and Prejudice which is also my current favorite book of all time. I plan on re-reading that one as well as reading the 7 others.
But before I start reading, I'd like to take a few moments to fill you in on who I am, why I am doing this, and what I hope this blog to be like.
My name is Ami. I am 20 years old. To many that is young while to others it is old, it's the transition between Childhood and Adult hood and I am trying to hardest to find the place I fit best. I am the 5th oldest of 6 children. My oldest three siblings are married and two of them have children. My brother Daniel, is 23 lives at home, no girlfriend, no social life, but a job and dreams. My younger brother Matthew, is 17, super smart boy, little respect for people, football player, and on of my best friends (minus the lack of respect). My oldest brother Nathan, is one of the three married siblings, he is married to Shana, has two children, a pastor, and lives in Kansas. My sisters are two of my best friends. Rebecca is married to Micah, has three children, lives about an hour from me, and is
always talking to my mother. Lastly is Rachel, (also is called waffle, I'm not sure why but we've been calling her this for years) she is married to James (A.K.A. Llama) I am the closest to her, not in age but in emotion. She has no children and lives 2 hours but visits almost every other weekend. My parents have been married for 32 years. They hold me to a higher expectation  I believe than any of my other siblings.
My sisters were married when they were 19 and 20. I am not married, nor seeing anyone. I feel as though the pressure is on me to make something of myself because my sisters got married and never attended College, right out of high school.
A few important facts about me that probably will come in handy with this blog this summer, my best friend who is a non-family member is Crystal but she lives in Colorado, 18 hours from me, but we still talk almost daily. My other best friend is Ethan, who is my sister's brother in law. He is younger than I but still my best friend. A year and a half ago my all time best friend Ben committed suicide while I was away at college in Wisconsin. these people will probably be brought up in this blog so therefore I hope this kinda gives you an idea of who is who.
Moving on from people, I am a journalism major. I graduated with my Associates of Arts degree from Iowa Central a few weeks ago and am currently working the summer away trying to save up enough money for this fall. Where I hope to attend a college, but that is all up in the air as to were it will be. I am working at Mickey D's and hope to make a decent amount of money without going crazy.
I am reading all of Jane Austen's novels this summer in hopes of finding life in the pages. I hope to be able to step into a different world and a different time while I am trying to figure out who I am, who I am suppose to be, and how through Jane Austen's talented work I will find myself.
I can not promise a post daily nor perhaps ever other day, but I hope a post will come more often than not. I hope you enjoy and I hope to hear back from you all! So here is to a Summer with Ms. Jane- Fin
